Lesson 5: Jonah Chapter 1

Purely by his grace God chose the nation of Israel to be his special people through whom the Savior would come and God would reveal himself to the nations. But his choosing Israel was never meant to exclude others from his kingdom. God wants all to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth. The book of Jonah is one such example of how the Lord intentionally reached out to the heathen with the message of repentance and forgiveness. Even from the mouth of an unwilling prophet (Jonah), God's powerful word turned hearts and lives to him.
